Inter-Institutional Agreements
Inter-Institutional Agreements
Inter-institutional agreements pertain to any collaboration efforts between Terra Dotta University and another institution. An International Memorandum of Understanding is a formal legal agreement between Terra Dotta University and a foreign institution. It establishes policy and procedures of mutual concern. Some activities an IMOU facilitates is research between two organizations, faculty exchanges, and student exchanges. To establish an IMOU you must work through the Office of International Programs, your college, and your department chair. An IMOU worksheet must be submitted to Cheryl Manning (cmanning@terradotta.com, 919-555-2020), the Academic Planning Specialist of the Office of Institutional Research.
Proposals for IMOUs may be put forward for consideration by one or more sponsoring administrator(s), department(s) or college(s) at Terra Dotta University to the Office of International Programs (OIP), with prior approval from your college. Individuals who are not employed by TDU may not initiate or be designated the primary contact for an IMOU to assure continuity and accountability within the institution.
The Office of International Programs is responsible for framing the agreement, clearing it through university channels and getting a document that can be signed by the Vice Provost for International Programs, the TDU official who has been designated by the President to sign on behalf of the institution. The Designated Representative from TDU is responsible for facilitating negotiations and forwarding the documents to the foreign institution for signature. This person must be approved by the individual charged with managing IMOU’s within the college. Responsibility for tracking the implementation of the IMOU and implementation of the activities rests with the designated contact person at each institution. They will be the contact persons when others on campus require information about that particular agreement, or if further collaboration is suggested by other departments. The TDU Designated Representative is also asked to maintain a record of the activities of the agreement to be provided at the end of the five-year period.
